Classes
& Workshops

Two Days
Select Dates
Children Ages 6-10
Learn + Play + Grow

These two day classes are focused around topics covered during Forest School and Camps.

Children lead our learning, diving deep into the specifics of a single topic or broadly explore skills & subjects parallel to the class focus. Actively learning through observation, practice & play.

Our classes have a maximum of five students working with one instructor. Keeping things extra small allows us to have more one on one time with each child.

Small Group Size

Working with children ages 6-10 during these classes, learning through play is often the best way to teach hands on and interest based subjects.

Make Time For Play

We are flexible when teaching to each child’s changing interests or needs related to the subjects & skills we are exploring during our time together.

Fire Building & Safety

Children practice creation, simple techniques & safety related to everyone’s favorite camping activity! We will learn how to build & maintain a fire + how to fully extinguish them when finished.

Nature Journaling & Art

Children explore basic techniques to document their findings while observing and exploring our forests. We will try: note taking, map making, record keeping & scientific illustration.

Tools & Woodcraft

We will cover the safe use of tools such as knives, saws & axes. Children will be supported in the use of these tools and create unique items with natural materials sourced in our forests.

Plant ID & Wild Edibles

Children can discover more about our native plants + uses as well as easily identifiable berries and other edible plants. We will approach both of these topics with an ethnobotanical lens.

Camps & Hideouts

Most children today do not have the autonomy or the wild natural landscapes + materials to freely create spaces that are truly their own. Children will work collaboratively to build new shelters and hide aways in our forest.

Class Format

1st Day

Children will learn through observation + practice + play while exploring the subject & skills we will be focused on during our time together.

During the first day children make new friends, play and uncover more about the skills & subjects we will be engaging with.

2nd Day

When children return for our second day, they are excited to share what they remember from the day prior and practice what they have learned.

The second day is when children will be encouraged to try these skills on their own or with the support of others.

Daily Routine

Arrival & Drop Off - Children are dropped off at 10:00am and will play while we wait for others to arrive.

Play + Learn + Explore - Once all children have arrived we head into the forest to learn more about the subject & skills that are going to be covered during out time together. We will begin to learn new skills through play + exploration + practice.

Midday Snack & Share - Around the midpoint of our day we will gather and wash up to take time to eat & share what we have learned, noticed and practiced in the forest. This gives an opportunity for the children to reflect and share about what they would like to learn more about for the rest of the day.

Learn + Play + Practice - After we finish eating and pack away our things, children are encouraged to explore and use the new skills we have been working on throughout the day. At this time children are might be working independently with the instructor or collaborating with others to build confidence in their new skills with through practice + play.

Pack up & Head Home - Each day comes to a close at 2:00pm, families will arrive to pick up their child and head home for the afternoon. For the 2nd day we will repeat this process + dive deeper into the children’s interests related to the subject & skills being shared.
