Summer Classes & Workshops
Children dive deeper into a variety of the subjects & skills we share throughout the year at Forest School.
No “grown ups” need to stay for these 100% outdoor + skill building + play based classes.
Classes are two days in a row 10-2pm, 8 hours spent 100% outdoors to play with friends & learn exciting new skills!
What Happens During Summer Classes?
1st Day
Children will learn through observation + practice + play while exploring the subject & skills we will be focused on during our time together.
During the first day children make new friends, play and uncover more about the skills & subjects we will be engaging with.
2nd Day
When children return for our second day, they are excited to share what they remember from the day prior and practice what they have learned.
The second day is when children will be encouraged to try these skills on their own or with the support of others.
Daily Routine
Arrival & Drop Off - Children are dropped off at 10:00am and will play while we wait for others to arrive.
Play + Learn + Explore - Once all children have arrived we head into the forest to learn more about the subject & skills that are going to be covered during out time together. We will begin to learn new skills through play + exploration + practice.
Midday Snack & Share - Around the midpoint of our day we will gather and wash up to take time to eat & share what we have learned, noticed and practiced in the forest. This gives an opportunity for the children to reflect and share about what they would like to learn more about for the rest of the day.
Learn + Play + Practice - After we finish eating and pack away our things, children are encouraged to explore and use the new skills we have been working on throughout the day. At this time children are might be working independently from the instructor or collaborating with others to build confidence in their new skills with more practice + play.
Pack up & Head Home - Each day comes to a close at 2:00pm, families will arrive to pick up their child and head home for the afternoon. For the 2nd day we will repeat this process + dive deeper into the children’s interests related to the subject & skills being shared.

Our routine will be the same as our other Classes & Workshops, but held later in the day giving children the opportunity to explore our familiar forest in the shifting late afternoon light.
We will cover the safe use of tools such as knives, saws & axes. Children will be supported in the use of these tools to create unique items with materials sourced from our forests.
